Junior Rockhounds

Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 3 to 4:30pm, the Junior Rockhounds class explores the wonders of fluorescence minerals. We will show how black light or ultraviolet light causes many rocks to glow. It is an interesting phenomenon, and we will explain how it works. That leaves plenty of time to work on painting and decorating the volcanoes we did last month. New students can help with an existing volcano or decorate a Volcanic Mountain to create the pictures we need. Come a few minutes early to get signed up and complete some paperwork if this is your first time. This is a free class open to all students 5-15. Badges will be issued. Students or parents do not need to be RGMS members. Students can even bring a friend who is interested in glowing rocks. All students will receive a fluorescent rock to take home.
